Each client I work with is unique. I tailor my writing style, timeline, and budget as much as I can to meet your needs. For example, one day I may be writing at a fourth-grade reading level for a patient-education piece, and writing at a much higher reading level for a special report the next.
The best first step is to contact me to set up a free initial consultation. This can be done over the phone or in person and the goal is to see whether I am a good match for your project.
Rates
I charge on a per word and/or per hour basis, depending on the nature of the project.
My rates are dependent upon a number of factors, most importantly the size and scope
of the project. Because projects vary so much from one to another, it is impossible to quote a standard hourly or per-word rate. Please contact me about your specific project and I will be happy to provide a proposed fee.
Contracts
I generally require a contract for all projects. The contract outlines the fees, timeline,
required revisions (see below), as well as legal questions like who owns the copyright to the work.
Revisions
My goal is to make sure all of my clients come away with a finished product they are 100% happy with. I generally expect to do one revision on a small article and as many as three on a larger project. Unless discussed, all revisions must be assigned within 30 days of receipt of original submission. Any revisions requested after that time, or any that are based on a change in the nature of the project, may be considered separate projects, and may be billed accordingly.
Payment
For most major projects I require 50% of payment when the contract is signed, and the remaining 50% within 30 days of acceptance of the final product. There’s always room for flexibility, especially with long-term clients or for smaller projects.
